B737NG Course Options

Kingsky Flight Academy provides a full range of B737NG training programs, following a structured approach that mirrors modern airline environments.

Initial Type Rating

This comprehensive course is designed for pilots obtaining their first qualification on the aircraft. The curriculum is divided into specific phases to ensure total proficiency:

  • Ground School (Phase 1): 64 hours total (40 hours aircraft systems + 8 hours general operational subjects + 16 hours systems integration).
  • Systems Integration & Procedures: Practical training using a flight deck mock-up or fixed-base device to master cockpit flows.
  • Simulator Training (Phase 2): Multiple sessions in a Level C or D Full Flight Simulator focusing on normal and non-normal procedures.
  • Line Oriented Flight Training (LOFT): A dedicated session mimicking real-world airline scenarios to sharpen decision-making.
  • Checkride: A final practical test with an FAA-authorized evaluator.

Reduced Type Rating

For pilots with recent B737 experience, this streamlined course offers a significant time-saving footprint—often completed in 8 to 10 days.

  • Eligibility: Typically requires a minimum of 250 hours in type OR a total of 1,000 hours in type (PIC or SIC), having served as an active crew member within the last 59 months, and holding a Commercial Pilot Certificate with Multi-Engine Land and Instrument Ratings.
  • Curriculum: Focuses on proficiency checks and advanced maneuvers rather than basic systems indoctrination.

Differences Training

This training supports transitions between B737 variants, such as moving from the B737 Classic (300/400/500) to the B737 NG (600/700/800/900).

  • Structure: Usually consists of 1 day of theoretical training and a focused Full Flight Simulator session.
  • Focus: Highlights avionics, engine, and procedural changes relevant to the specific series.

Recurrent and Reduced Recurrent Training

Recurrent training helps pilots maintain currency and operational proficiency. Reduced recurrent options may be available for pilots requiring proficiency checks only.

Distance Learning & Flexible Locations for B737NG Training

Distance learning allows pilots to complete eligible academic portions of training remotely, significantly reducing travel requirements and time away from work. The aircraft systems ground school can be completed online (home study), and at the start of the on-site portion students take a validation test and must score at least 80% to continue. Those who don’t pass complete the full course on-site. This option is particularly beneficial for international pilots or those balancing rigorous flying schedules.

To provide even greater flexibility beyond our Lakeland headquarters, we offer satellite programs in Miami and Orlando, ensuring students can access high-quality instruction without being restricted to a single campus.

All distance and satellite learning is strictly structured to maintain training quality and full regulatory compliance.
